The City of Norfolk is increasingly at risk of flooding and damage from coastal storms. Norfolk has one of the highest rates of relative sea level rise (RSLR) among Atlantic coastal communities. The Resilient Norfolk Coastal Storm Risk Management (CSRM) Project will reduce the city's risk from coastal flooding and damage from nor’easters, hurricanes, and other significant storm events.
Our goal is to design the coastal community of the future.
The CSRM project includes structural, property-specific, nonstructural, and natural and nature-based features. These features are a result of the cost-benefit analysis and findings from the Coastal Storm Risk Management Feasibility Study, conducted by the U.S Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) and City from 2016-2019.
Each phase of the project is being designed and the public will have opportunities to provide input before construction.
